Hi, my name is Barbara Costa, I’m a 26-year-old Brazilian filmmaker based in Vancouver, working across directing, editing, and camera. My style is influenced by Brazilian culture, the queer community and I’m especially interested in stories that mix drama with humor, the kind that reflect real life without taking themselves too seriously.
I have been working as a video editor since 2022, I was mainly working in Brazil with videos for social media, courses, and podcasts, and I moved to Canada this year to learn about making films. This year I edited 5 short films, two of those were also directed by me.
My work often highlights queer and female perspectives, telling stories that explore identity, intimacy, and the chaos of human relationships. I have a background in editing, photography, graphic design, motion graphics, and cinematography, where I bring a strong visual sense and storytelling rhythm.
