Kristina Lao (any pronouns) is a mixed-race, interdisciplinary Artist hailing from Hong Kong, weaving her Chinese, Nepalese, British, and Polish roots into every facet of her work. She began her career as a songwriter, penning music for HSBC and a Hong Kong cartoon series before training at the London School of Musical Theatre. Signed to Imagem (now Concord Bicycle) in the U.K., she went on to co-write “Single,” which toured worldwide with Chinese Pop star Jane Zhang for five years. With over 100 co-writing credits under her belt—spanning collaborations with Simon Darlow (co-writer, “Slave to the Rhythm”), Robin Millar (Sade, Everything But the Girl), and Karl Dicaire (Big Wreck, Mother Mother)—Kristina’s music carries the spirit of global collaboration and collective uplift.
As an actor, Kristina has appeared in more than 30 film and television productions across Netflix, Paramount+, Disney, ABC, and Hallmark. On stage, she’s led two national U.K. tours (20th Century Boy and Yellow Earth Theatre) and continues to explore her passion for action roles through training in Stage Combat, Horseback Archery, and various martial arts. Her dedication to immersive storytelling can also be seen in her multi-disciplinary theater projects, including performances at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, alongside intimate concerts at legendary venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, The Troubadour, and The Bedford.
A “nerdy, wordy, and socially conscious” creative, Kristina brings deep curiosity and a commitment to community-centric art into every project she touches. With a degree in International Business and over a decade of experience producing and curating events, she blends entrepreneurial savvy with a passion for intersectional storytelling—embodying the ethos of creating with purpose, amplifying underrepresented voices, and nurturing meaningful connections both onstage and off.
