Announcing the FILMABLE x Collective Bunch Fellowship

Made possible through support from the Government of Canada’s Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program, creating pathways for emerging film talent from underrepresented communities.

The FILMABLE x Collective Bunch Fellowship was created to increase equitable access, representation, and career development opportunities for equity-deserving communities within British Columbia’s film and television industry.

Developed in partnership with FILMABLE, the fellowship provides emerging creators, youth, and underrepresented talent with direct exposure to industry pathways through mentorship, hands-on learning, professional development, and community-based engagement.

The initiative was designed to help address systemic barriers to participation in the screen sector by fostering intercultural understanding, advancing inclusion, and creating meaningful opportunities for participants to build long-term careers in creative industries.

Through workshops, networking opportunities, production training, and conversations with working industry professionals, participants gained insight into multiple areas of film and television production, including producing, directing, cinematography, editing, writing, and on-set operations.

The program emphasizes collaboration, community leadership, and accessible learning environments that reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. By connecting participants with professionals and organizations across the industry, the program supports stronger pathways into employment, creative leadership, and sustainable participation within Canada’s cultural sector.

The FILMABLE x Collective Bunch Fellowship aligns with broader efforts to:

  • Advance anti-racism and inclusion within creative industries

  • Foster intercultural understanding and dialogue

  • Support equitable opportunities for underrepresented communities

  • Strengthen community participation in Canada’s cultural economy

  • Amplify diverse voices and lived experiences through storytelling

Collective Bunch remains committed to building programs that create lasting impact by supporting the next generation of creators, storytellers, and industry leaders from all backgrounds.

Frequently Asked Questions - FEATURE STREAM

Q. I’d love to apply for the Feature Stream, but my script isn’t quite in presentable form yet. Would 5 consecutive pages that are not the first five be acceptable? Or is it okay if it’s a rough/early draft?

A. We do require the first five pages of your script, and applicants should have a full draft completed at the time of submission.

We recognize that “rough draft” or "early draft" can mean different things to different people. Applicants who have spent time with their scripts and project materials who are in need of a fresh perspective and guidance are best suited for this fellowship. Our advice is simple: submit the strongest version of your work that you can at this stage. We’re selecting a small group of fellows, so we encourage applicants to put their best foot forward.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Do I really need two or more people to submit?

A. We encourage applicants to apply as part of a team — projects with two or more key creatives are best positioned to benefit from the fellowship.

However, solo applicants will be considered.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Is this a training program, funding, or something else? What do you mean by fellowship?

A. The Filmable x Collective Bunch Fellowship is a mentorship and development program. Fellows are paired with experienced industry mentors, participate in workshops and networking events, and receive tailored support to advance their projects and careers.

It is not a direct funding program, but the fellowship is designed to help participants strengthen their projects, position them for financing, and build the connections needed to move toward production.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Do you consider scripts written in a language other than English?

A. Although we will support scripts that will eventually be produced in a language other than English, your script must be translated into English before you submit it.
